I know I've found a good product when not only does it perform beyond expectations, possess fine build quality and is comprised of durable materials, but inspires me to use it in fun, creative ways. That was my reaction after spending some time with this impressive torch. I don't have to worry about it failing, as the metal is extremely dense, the hardware and fittings upgraded, and the functionality smooth and simple. It doesn't look or feel cheap, and it's very solid in hand. The finish is a very thick, smooth coating, and it looks as good as it protects. All you have to do to use it is fill it with a store bought, universal butane refill bottle (make sure the fuel valve/release is in the off position), turn the fuel valve to your desired heat/intensity, and press the red button located at the top, back end. i like that you don't have to keep your thumb on the trigger while in use. That frees up your hand to employ greater dexterity and maneuverability. Turning the fuel valve back to the of position disengages the torch. It's essentially the "off" switch/button. It can run really, really hot and the flame can extend quite far, or it can run at a lower temp and the flame shorter, depending on how you toggle the fuel valve. I really liked being able to customize the intensity based on the cooking task. It really allows you to be a cooking virtuoso, whether your're using it for meringues, charring meats, caramelizing creme brulee and everything in between. So far I've used it to caramelize marshmallows and to char chicken thighs. I can't imagine anything this torch can't handle. While the chamber isn't significantly large, it can hold a fair amount. I used the torch for a while just to test its longevity, and it didn't let up. This torch is a valuable kitchen tool and a very, very welcomed addition to my arsenal. I can't wait to expand my cooking repertoire and start trying it with more recipes. The ThermoMaven Metallic Metal Butane Torch is a easy recommendation.

I am always on the look out for a good torch that can handle double duty as both a capable cigar lighter and as a cooking tool. This torch accomplishes both in style. The adjustable dial means I can put as much fire out as I need, and not have to fiddle with a the little adjuster at the bottom of most torch lighters that require a coin or something flat to turn. The lighter itself feels very premium and well built, and holds a fair amount of fuel, and the body is made of some type of metal that will surely take a drop in stride. Overall, I am digging this torch lighter and hopefully it lasts as long as it seems it will.

I live in a state where certain things have been legalized, so I've gone through quite a bit of cheaper torches over the years. I have to say, this is the best torch I've owned. It feels really nice, like solid quality. The flame is bigger and more powerful than any I've had short of a real torch. It's one of those things you have to get your hands on and feel for yourself, but once you do, you'll understand.
Oh, and I've never used a torch for cooking, but I'm sure it's great for that too!
