ThermoMaven F1 Stealth

I got this to replace an old Thermapen that wore out prematurely. Feature-wise, it's pretty similar, comes on as soon as the probe is out, temperature responds very quickly. But it takes common AAA batteries instead of CR2032s and has a magnet on the back, so it wins out in convenience. It came with a calibration certificate where it listed that it was reading exactly what it was supposed to, within .2 degrees Fahrenheit, but then had the serial number on that same slip but on a sticker rather than printed, so I have my doubts about it being calibrated so precisely. But that level of precision isn't necessary for cooking at home.

Nice solid, heavy feel. Nothing flimsy or light. Open to see the temp, close to save the battery. Easy digital readout in large red numbers. Adjusts quickly to find the current temp. I compared this to a calibrated thermometer right out of the box and it was within .2 so I'm counting that as accurate. Like it and glad to recommend it.

Arrived well packaged with usage and calibration instructions. Larger than I expected but it has a real rugged feel with bright display that won't get washed out in full sun and a waterproof design that makes clean up less risky. Powered by a single AAA battery which is included. Loop hole and magnetic back means you won't be looking for where you left it during a cook. Response time is fast (as advertised) and handy 'temporary hold' button means no lost readings.
