This torch is great. I first used it to torch 3 little piles of weeds I pulled from my gravel driveway. Lights up easy, just don't give it too much gas before lighting.
My next task was later that day after a nice ribeye finished in it's perfect sous vide bath. I took it outside and laid it on the cold bbq grill and torched it and it did a great crust. Better than cast iron because it didn't heat up the center, or the house, or make a mess tallow splattering. There is a nice amount of leeway for adjusting the ferocity of jet burner coming out of this while you are torching so I feel like I can play around with it and optimize some more. But even if it wasn't optimizable, the sear I did to my rib eye was perfect enough that I wouldn't mind. But of course I'll still do it.
The build of this is surprisingly nice. There's a plastic handle but it feels solid. It screwed on easily, ignited easily, adjusted easily and turned off easily. The torch head itself is beautiful. It looks like some kind of heat treated steel but it's not blue its more like a black chrome. I really like this torch.

This torch attachment for camp-sized propane tanks is an absolute BEAST, and has been working excellently as a fire pit starter. Operation is exceedingly simple - just screw the attachment snugly onto a small, camp-sized propane tank, turn the nob on top until you hear a hiss, press the ignition button, and LET 'ER RIP.
I haven't gathered the courage to turn it up full-blast yet, but as far as I can see there's very little reason to do that in the first place because the torch burns amazingly well even on a lower setting. I was able to get some rain-sprinkled branches ablaze in just a few seconds because of the output of this thing.
Highly, highly recommended for starting fire pits or charcoal briquettes. Just keep it away from the kids as there aren't any safety features.

I'm a caveman at heart and I love stuff like this! Sometimes you need the big boy flame thrower to get the fire started. Especially if there's a good wind keeping you from getting what you need lighted lit. Just screw in your traditional camping propane tank into the base and blast off! Use this with extreme caution because it can cause a lot of damage quickly. Always keep a fire extinguisher, water hose, spray bottle or a large pitcher of water nearby when you use things like this. Fire does what it does quickly without this super torch accessory, so use with extreme caution.
